Pemba B Bayo, LCSW is a hypnoanalyst and licensed clinical social worker in Chicago, IL. Pemba has served persons of all ages as a child development center director, elder caregiver, and case manager.

As a resident of the American Academy of Clinical Hypnoanalysts (AACH), Pemba has accomplished her Level II Hypnoanalyst training and is working on her board certification training. During her residency, she has been studying under Jeanne Clark, LCSW, DSW, a well-respected colleague who has served the Academy as an Officer, and Board member. Ms. Clark is also a long-standing member of the Illinois Society of Clinical Social Work.

Pemba is also grateful for undergoing her personal Hypnoanalysis with the esteemed Don Hardy-Holley, MA, LPC, LMFT, NCC, a retired professor, and former director of clinical services at Huston-Tillotson University. Mr. Hardy-Holley served the Academy as an officer and editor of its newsletter, "INSIGHT."

Education & Training

Pemba received her Graduate training from the Dominican University School of Social Work in 2019, where she earned her Master of Social Work Degree with a certificate in Gerontology. While at Dominican University, Pemba completed an internship at Arab American Family Services where she provided individual counseling and case management services to culturally diverse persons of all ages.

Additionally, she completed an internship at Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care Bereavement Department where she co-facilitated grief groups and provided individual bereavement counseling and grief support services.

For her undergraduate education, Pemba studied at San Francisco State University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations. As a former child development center director and elder caregiver, Pemba brings a strength-based approach to clients of all ages.

Research & Community Work

During her graduate studies, Pemba developed a Community Research Project in Entebbe, Uganda, where she partnered with Health Nest Uganda to support local health workers and their clients. This experience deepened her understanding of behavioral health equity and culturally sensitive practice.

As a mother of five children with experience in single parenthood, Pemba brings lived experience and genuine empathy to her work with families. She is committed to behavioral health equity and social justice in her therapeutic practice.
